Getting married doesn't have to be expensive

The average wedding in the Netherlands costs between €15,000 and €25,000. That's a significant amount. But an unforgettable wedding day isn't about money — it's about love, personality and the people around you. With smart choices you can save thousands of euros without sacrificing atmosphere or quality.

1. Choose an unusual day

Getting married on Friday or Sunday instead of Saturday can save you hundreds of euros. Many locations and suppliers charge lower rates on weekdays. A wedding on Thursday is even cheaper — and just as romantic.

2. Getting married outside the high season

June to September is peak season. Consider a fall or winter wedding. The prices are lower, the atmosphere is different (think: candles, hot chocolate, autumn leaves) and you have more choice of locations.
